Tired of seeing rubbish in the ocean?
Feel like it’s all a lost cause?
Would like to give something back?
This course is great fun!
Starts with a discussion about marine debris and what we, as divers, can do.
We then start a Dive Against Debris Survey.
After finding ocean debris (in our area, we sometimes find discarded fish traps which are quite large), learn how to safely bring it to the surface, measure it (size, weight), sorting, and how to log all the details of the dive into the Project Aware database before recycling / disposing it.
This database is then used to monitor debris issues globally for both local and global changes.
You will also learn what debris to leave behind and why.
